Soccer

I’ve been playing soccer my whole life. I grew up with soccer, and it’s a sport that I hold dear to my heart. I would love to play soccer when I grow up, even if it isn’t in a professional league.

I’ve been playing soccer for my whole life and it is a major part in my life. I started playing in town soccer, moved on to travel soccer, and later on joined a club. I joined Three Lions United about two years ago. I am very glad and fortunate to play in this club. This year, the rules of soccer changed. They separated the teams by the year players were born. I was born in 2002, so I am in a team with girls that were all born in 2002. On my team there are girls in my grade and girls in a grade above me. We practice three times a week, and have games or tournaments almost every weekend.

This year, we mainly played in tournaments. Out of 4 tournaments we got 1st in three of them and 3rd in the other one. We got first in the Nike Classic, The Halloween Classic, and the State Cup. In the three tournaments that we won, we had a clean sheet. A clean sheet means we weren’t scored on. We had a really great season this year and I hope we continue playing as well as we did these past games.

I play right back, which is a defensive position but I have to run up and help offensively. My position requires a lot of running. From running up to help offensively to sprinting back if my team loses the ball. For high school, I hope to be a starter on varsity. However, I must work hard and practice my foot work to live up to my dream. My favorite soccer team is F.C Barcelona. My brothers, my dad, and I love to watch their games and see the 11 different players work as one. My favorite player is Lionel Messi. He is an outstanding player and a great person.

Just A Little Thanks

Every year, we have a holiday to celebrate what we are most thankful for, Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is not just about the turkey or mashed potatoes, it’s about being thankful for what we have. However, every day we should be thankful for what we have, because there are people that have nothing. I have a variety of things to be thankful for, but what I’m most thankful for is my family, friends, and living in a free country.

I am especially thankful for my family. My two brothers, my mom, my dad, and my dog all support me for whatever decision I make. They are always there for me when I need them. I am very fortunate to be able to go every Christmas to Bolivia to see the rest of my family. All of our cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents live in Bolivia, except for two great uncles, who live in the United States. We go every year for Christmas and I have an outstanding time. I couldn’t be more thankful than being able to see my family in Bolivia and having a family that supports me.

My friends are a giant part of my life. They make me smile, laugh, and cry; I adore them so much. They help me with any problems I have, and listen to me when I go on an angry rant for no reason. Whether it’s my soccer friends, my public school friends, or my private school friends; I need them all in my life. They all mean so much to me and hold a special place in my heart. I am extremely thankful to have such amazing friends.

I am very fortunate and thankful to be living in a free country. A country where I can choose what to wear, what sport I want to play, and what school I want to go to. I get to choose what to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In the future, I can decide if I want to go to college and what college I want to go to. I am thankful to be living in a free country and for the men and women who fight with everything they have, including their lives, to help keep this country safe and free.

There are many things to be thankful for. Whether you’re thankful for the new shoes you just got or just for waking up in the morning. Thanksgiving is a holiday for being thankful for what you have, however you can be thankful every day.
